Galatians 5:1-5

1. Freedom! What does it mean?
   1. The teenager wanting to be “free”
   2. The adult looking forward to the weekend or vacation.
2. Two real questions about freedom:
   1. From what?
      1. Christ set us free – vs. 1
      2. Dominion of sin and death
   2. Freedom to do and be what?
      1. Relationship with God
3. What is the yoke of slavery? Vs. 1b – 4
   1. Galatian context
   2. Modern day context – a nagging feeling: I do not fit. I do not know what to do. I do not know if I have what it takes. Why can I not get it right?
      1. We feel it and respond to input from others
      2. We feel it and respond to input from ourselves
4. In another way, the nagging feeling can be good!
   1. The law (and our internal law) drives us to Christ 3:23-24
   2. In what do you hope? vs. 5
   3. By the Spirit, through faith we await.
