Proverbs 3:5-10

    1. Statistics:
      1. 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck (3 months or less from losing everything)
      2. 37% of marital problems are over money
      3. 46% of Americans have less than $10,000 for retirement
      4. Average U.S. family has $38,000 in consumer debt.
      5. In 2001, American savings fell to -2.2%
    2. All we have is God’s! Give to find freedom! Pro 11:24 and Pro 3:9-10.
  2. Practical Advice: Do not take on debt.
    1. Only 33% of Americans pay off credit card debt each month – down from 40% perviously.

    4. Do whatever it takes to get out of debt.
  3. Practical Advice: Work Hard.
    1. Pro 10:4, Pro 13:4, Pro 14:23, Pro 19:15, Pro 20:4, Pro 6:6-11
    2. Work and don’t just dream. Pro 12:11, Pro 28:19
    3. Find a job you like – it will not be work, but pleasure!
    4. The first part of your life is figuring out what you like. Network and work hard to be the best.
    5. You will be smarter than 50% and you can outwork 90% that are smarter than you. That puts you in the top 95%.
  4. Plan your financial life

    2. 10-10-80 Give, Save, Live Well
    3. It is wise to save. Pro 13:11
    4. Old Methodist advice: “Work hard, save all you can, give all you can.”

    Questions to Ponder:
    How much of your time and thought goes to money?
    Have you had money worries in the past 6 months? Why?
    Do you give regularly and generously? Do you save regulartly? Can you see how these two principles could help you?
