A new ministry year is upon us at Grace! We are looking forward to seeing what God will do in and through Grace this year. Yet, we also realize that without God’s direct moving by his Spirit, we cannot bring lasting change in anyone’s life. The means of bringing this change is through prayer. Please join us as we ask God to work in and through us.
- Pray for those in our church family- for our marriages, our children, our various situations
- For our church and individual outreach to the community- for peace and unity, for power, for conversions, and for wisdom on how to reach out
- And for our community- for revival, healed relationship and marriages, and our ability to be a church for our extended community.
How can you be involved? If everyone at Grace could take time today and everyday this week to pray. For some of us, it will be the first time we have done this in a focused manner. Pray individually and with your family for our needs! Take the time and ask God for His work in our midst. For others, I would encourage you to take time to fast and pray for our community.
Fasting is often from food, but it can be from anything. The point of fasting is to illustrate our need. With food, as we are hungry, we ask God to fulfill our needs and it prompts us to prayer. We are so tied to this world (and food!) that a short time of reminder of our dependence helps us see our need for God. It is also commanded in scripture as a means of discovering spiritual power. For some, because of health reasons, fasting from food is impossible.
I encourage you to fast from TV or something of the like. When you are tempted to reach for the remote out of habit, confess it to God, take time to pick up the Word of God to read, and pray! Ask for God’s work in your life and in the life of the Grace community. The real work of the ministry is prayer. We need all of us to jump in to this vital ministry!
