Luke 19:11-27

  1. The Bible stories do not match up perfectly.
    1. Must be errors in the Bible. Why trust it?
    2. Parallels with many other stories in Matthew and Mark.

  2. Much happening in this parable
    1. Addresses a key question: When will the Kingdom of God come?
    2. Some want to kill the soon to be king.
      1. They get their reward! Pick the winner.
    3. Some were put to work to prepare for the Kingdom. Future orientation with present consequences.
      1. Ten people, Ten Minas
      2. One person: made ten more. Called a good and faithful servant! Given 10 cities to manage.
      3. One person: made five more: Given five.
    4. One servant: Wrong view of the master? “Hard man who takes out what he did not put in and reaps what he did not sow.”
      1. Judgement according to his own words
  3. What is your view of God? What is your attitude toward the time, gifts, and talents he has given you? Are you putting them to work for the Kingdom or for yourself only?
