The Kingdom of God and the Old Testament

Luke 16:14-18

1. Religion of Humanity and Jesus (vss. 14-15)
   1. We always make God in our image instead of being made in His!
   2. Yet, God is the one who justifies.
2. Jesus and the Old Testament (vss. 15-18)
   1. Two major theological movements
      1. Dispensationalism
      2. Covenant Theology
   2. Is there a disconnect between OT and NT?
      1. Law will never disappear or be lessened. For example, the Law’s teaching on divorce.
3. The Old Testament proclaimed the coming of the Kingdom of Grace.
   1. The Purpose of the Law (Romans 3:20)
   2. The Message of the Prophets
      1. Isaiah 30:15-18
      2. Jeremiah 2:13
4. The Kingdom comes with violence
   1. It is about God’s radical grace confronting your life!
   2. Stop justifying yourself and rest in grace!
